Role Purpose

The intern will work with Wood Mackenzie’s Macroeconomics team based in Edinburgh, Guildford and Houston. The intern will collaborate with the team on subjects including GDP, industrial production, automotive and income study on a global basis. This will involve detailed research on the fundamental drivers, as well as the development of robust forecasting methodologies. This is an excellent opportunity to experience working in the field of macroeconomics. The intern will also have the opportunity to develop presentation materials for internal and/or external clients, and to present to Wood Mackenzie audiences.

Main Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team and assist in forecast processes for global GDP, industrial production, vehicle production, as well as China provincial level GDP, urbanization and population

• Conduct data research and enhance the various macroeconomic models

• Research and assess the growth drivers of automotive production and demand in key countries around the world

• Build database on key economic trends to deepen the team’s understanding, e.g. trade flows and consumption

• Develop storyline and Powerpoint presentations to explain the company’s economic outlook, under the guidance of Wood Mackenzie macroeconomics team

Ideally, the intern will be required to work 4-5 days per week, upon the requirement of the specific project. The intern will receive a competitive intern allowance plus Personal Accident Insurance.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

We are interested in applicants with the following attributes and skills:

• an ability to perform analytical and database work particularly using Excel

• a willingness to learn

• an academic background in Economics or a related field will be preferred
